Create a Stripe Account and Get Approval to Accept Stripe Payments

Are you ready to start accepting payments online?

Stripe is a great option and very easy to start using.

In this video and in the instructions below it, I show you step-by-step how to create a Stripe account and activate it so you can start accepting online payments through Stripe!


  1. Open an internet browser tab and go to
  2. Click on the “Create Account” button.
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Enter your full name.
  5. Enter a strong password.
  6. Enter your password again to confirm.
  7. Check the “I’m not a robot” reCAPTCHA box and wait for green checkmark.
  8. Click on the “Create your Stripe account” button.
  9. Click “Skip for Now” option. 
    • This will take you to your Stripe dashboard.
  10. Click on the “Start” button to the right of the “activate your Stripe account section title.”
    • You will see a “Verify your email” notification
  11. Go to the email inbox of the email you provided and look for the email from Stripe with the subject line, “Confirm your Stripe email address!”
    • If you don’t see it, check your spam folder or click on the “Resend verification email button.”
  12. Open the “Confirm your Stripe email address!” email.
  13. Read through the email and click on the “Confirm email address” button within the email.
    • This will open a browser window asking you to login to your Stripe account.
  14. Enter your email (if it isn’t already entered) and password and click on the “Confirm your email” button.
  15. Check the “I’m not a robot” reCAPTCHA box and wait for green checkmark.
    • This will open the dashboard with a smaller window above it saying “Email confirmed” window.
  16. Click on the “Close” button to close the smaller window.
    • This will take you to your Stripe dashboard.
  17. Click on the “Start ->” button in the upper right corner.
    • This will open the area where you can enter your Business details.
  18. In the Country field, select the country in which your business is located.
  19. In the Business address fields, enter your business address, city, state and zip code.
  20. In the Business phone field, enter your business phone.
  21. In the Type of business field, select the structure of your business from the options listed (Corporation, Individual, Sole proprietor, or single-member LLC, Limited liability company (LLC), Nonprofit organization, or Partnership)..
  22. In the Employer Identification Number (EIN) field, enter your EIN is you have one.
  23. In the Business website field, enter the URL of your business website.
  24. In the Business description, select your industry.
  25. In the box underneath the industry list description what your business does. Describe what you sell, whom you sell to, and when you charge your customers.
  26. In the “How long after paying will your customers typically receive their goods or services?” field, select the timeframe from the dropdown options listed (Within one day, Within 2 weeks, Within one month, or More than one month)..
  27. In the “You, the individual or sole proprietor” section, enter your Legal First and Last Name, Job title, Phone number, Date of birth, Last 4 Digits of Social Security Number, and Home address.
  28. If you would like to verify your identity using Facebook, LinkedIn, or Google, click on the option you would like to use and follow the prompts.
  29. In the Statement descriptor field, enter the Your company name as you would like to appear on your customer’s statement
  30. In the Customer support phone number, enter the phone number your customers can call if they require support.
  31. In the Customer support address, enter the address your customers can use if they need to send correspondence or packages to your business.
  32. In the Bank details section, enter the Routing number of your business checking account.
  33. In the Account number field, enter your business checking account number.
  34. In the Confirm account number field, either your business checking account number again.
  35. In the Two-step authentication section, choose which method you would like to use and click on the appropriate button (Get text message or Use Google Authenticator).
  36. In the Almost done! Save your Stripe account, enter an email address and password.
  37. Click on the “Submit application” button.
  38. This will take you to your Stripe dashboard. You will see a green circle with a checkmark next to “Activate your Stripe account” which means you are ready to start accepting payments!
