Add Image to WordPress Using a URL

If you store the majority of your images on a cloud-based service, you may want to add the images to your website using a URL instead of uploading them into your Media Library.

Here’s how you can do that.

Add Image to WordPress Using a URL

► Open the Post or Page to which you would like to add an image in edit mode.

► Locate the image you would like to use and copy the URL.

The image used can be in Dropbox, Amazon S3, Google Drive, or any other cloud-based storage system that you have access to and control over the content.

► Go back to the Post or Page and place your cursor where you would like to insert the image.

► Click Add Media.

► Click on the ‘Insert from URL’ option on the left.

► Highlight the http:// and paste the image URL.

The image should appear below the link along with other options.

► Enter a caption for the image if you want to.

► Enter the alt text for the image.

I recommend adding this since it helps with SEO.

► Adjust the alignment, if necessary.

► Adjust the ‘link to’ option if you want to.

► Click the ‘Insert’ button on the bottom right.

This will take you back to the post with the image inserted.

Congratulations! You just inserted an image using a URL.
