When I start a new website project, I create a demo website URL for the client. This gives me a safe place to create a website that I can control and they can see and take for a ‘test-drive’ prior to it going live on the permanent URL.
The easiest way I’ve found to do this is to create a subdomain in cPanel on my URL with a short and easy to remember extension. For example, when I was redesigning the Twin Love Concierge, I created a subdomain called tlc.alishamcfarland.com.
It takes less than 5 minutes to do and will get your website project started off on the right foot.
Create a Demo Website URL
► Login to your cPanel.
► Go to the Domains area and click on the Subdomains icon.
► Enter the short Subdomain in the box before your URL.
► Click on the Create button.
You will see a confirmation that you have successfully created the subdomain once the process is completed.
► Click on the Go Back button.
You should see the new Subdomain listed.
Congratulations! Your subdomain is now ready and available for you to start building a demo website.
