Upload WordPress Plugin

If you purchase a plugin or a premium upgrade of a free plugin you will likely need to install it using a zip file instead of using the Plugin Directory.

Have no fear! It’s very easy.

Upload WordPress Plugin

► Login to WordPress if you aren’t already.

► Click on Plugins > Add New.

This will take you to the Add Plugins page.

► Click on the ‘Upload Plugin’ button to the right of the page title.

This will take you to the Add Plugins page.

► Click on the ‘Choose File’ button.

This will open an Open window where you can select the plugin zip file that you would like to install.

► Select the file and click Open.

This will take you back to the Add Plugins page.

You should see the name of the file you selected next to the Choose File button and the ‘Install Now’ button will be clickable.

► Click on the ‘Install Now’ button.

This will install the plugin and give you progress updates.

► Click on the ‘Return to Plugins page’ option.

This will take you to the Plugins page.

You will see the plugin listed along with Activate, Edit and Delete options underneath.

It will also include a description, version, author and the plugin website.

If you’re ready to use the plugin, go ahead and click on the Activate link. You’ll see a confirmation message that it was activated and the menu options underneath the title will change to Deactivate and Edit.

Congratulations! You have uploaded a WordPress plugin.
